When I was younger, I loved to read Calvin and Hobbes. Calvin’s fantastical imagination always carried him through the day. Also, it was pretty apparent that he was a strange kid, like me. That’s why he needed to invent an imaginary friend, right? To handle his lonerly-ness? I was extremely sad when Bill Watterson cancelled the cartoon. It felt like I had lost one of my friends. Seriously.
It’s 4:30 am here and I’m wide awake thinking about my future. Feels bad.

For people with dates, I envy you. I’m just sitting at home with a bottle of 2 buck Chuck (it’s a recession. I don’t have a job) and watching the Winter Olympics on my tv. My roommates are all out on dates, or are cuddling with their girlfriends in their room. I don’t really talk to them anyway. They’re usually rude to me and don’t like the fact that I’m at home all the time. I tried getting a few dates on PlentyofFish.com a few weeks ago, but none of the girls seemed to be interested.
Who cares. I’m happy to be by myself. I’m still young at 33 and nobody can get me down!
Some cuddling would have been nice though…

There’s no escape. You’ll just end up sad and lonerly. Especially don’t do it to somebody you would never want to lose as a friend. Because it’ll happen. You’ll lose them as a friend.

This one’s contributed by LC. I used to read Garfield a lot as a kid. I <3′d Lasagna just like Garfield and I was slightly (maybe more than slightly) overweight. I guess Jon was a lot like Calvin in Calvin & Hobbes. He didn’t have many friends and was very unsuccessful with the ladies. This is what life would be like for him without Garfield in the picture. So. Very. Lonerly.
Super Mario Bros.

When I was young, my parents would leave me home a lot by myself. This was before child protective services laws, so it was okay. I guess it wasn’t as bad as getting chained to a stair banister or something, but I was bored and lonerly pretty often. In any case, I was eventually able to finagle an old school Nintendo from my parents. They got me the one with the original Super Mario Bros. + Duck Hunt + Track Meet game all in one, but Super Mario Bros. was by far my favorite. To this day I still have muscle memory of that game. Anyway, I saw this today and it made me really sad.
